Arts for Kids

State budget cuts have drastically curtailed the art programs in the schools as well as in the extended day programs.  Thus, schools are not able to offer the benefits that art instruction provides, such as improving manual dexterity, allowing for exploration of various materials, stimulating creative thinking and problem solving, teaching good craftsmanship, and increasing self-esteem.  RiverArts has tried to fill this need by expanding its childrens’ programs, particularly for those in grades K through 5.  An annual Children’s Art Exhibition showcases the creativity of our young folks.

The Clay Studio ran a successful Art and Nature Camp at the Still Pond Studio under the leadership of Gia Campana.  The following photos were taken by Sandra Jackson.
