Chestertown Art in the Park 2012
Press Release

Chestertown Art in the Park is back.  The new Chestertown RiverArts (the union of Chestertown Arts League and Chester River Arts)  has teamed up with the popular Jazz Festival to bring Art in the Park 2012 to Wilmer Park on September 15, 2012 from 10:00 to 5:00.  Over fifty regional artists will display quality, affordable art that range from paintings and photographs to pottery and jewelry.  Folks will be able to browse the art while listening to world class jazz.

Among our talented artists participating this year are nationally renown wildlife artists, Kurt Plinke and Raymond Bell as well as popular Chestertown RiverArts’ artists including Cindy Fulton, Marti Hawlins, Patty Mowell, Stephanie Somers, Holly Boye, Laura and Rich Hall, Stanley Galken, Donna Hickman and Steve Hamilton.  You can view all of our artists and crafters on the Our Artists page along with selected samples of their work. This event is always a perfect time to start your holiday shopping with unique gifts of art for family and friends.

The Chestertown Jazz Festival begins at 11:00 and features Fredric Yonnet preceded by the 100 Voice Choir, Joe Holt Trio, Felicia Carter, Project Natale, and Giacomo Gates.  The Jazz Festival, which requires a ticket, will occupy the Chester River side of the park whereas Art in the Park, with no admission charge, will be on the west side of the park closest to the road.  Jazz ticket buyers will be able to move back and forth between the two events.  Advance tickets bought before July 15th cost $15.00 and $20.00 after July 15.

Chestertown offers a plethora of fun activities to round out the weekend which include visiting the many art galleries and shops in town, sailing on the colonial ship, Sultana, and strolling along the Chester River. Check out the Chestertown Art in the Park Website (http://ChestertownArtInThePark.com) to see participating artists, get directions, and find out what else there is to do in Chestertown.

We think Art and Music make for a fabulous day.   Hope you can join us.
