Jayne Bellows has long led a life drawing open studio with a live model on Monday evenings at the Chestertown Arts League.   Now a Life Drawing class will be offered by Jayne Bellows on three Monday afternoons, April 16, 23, and 30 from 12:00 to 3:00 for those that would like direction on how to improve their skills.

The drawing of the human figure requires the highest level of artistic ability and when mastered, these same skills apply to the still life, landscape, and all fields of art. The Life Drawing class will offer different opportunities to practice skills by using both the quick sketch and longer poses. Emphasis will be made on proportion, anatomical form, and values. All levels of artists are invited to join in the class and experience the joy of creating art from life.

Trained by several leading artists, Jayne Bellows has been painting most of her life. Her education includes David Lipscomb University, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, University of Chicago and the American Academy of Art.  She has taught “Human Anatomy For Artists” at the Palette and Chisel Academy and the American Academy of Art in Chicago. She has also been a member of the faculty of the “Richard Halsted Portrait” course. Jayne is an award winning artist whose work is in both private and corporate collections. Jayne’s work is published on numerous medical journals as cover art.

The class will be held at the Chestertown Arts League, 312 Cannon Street. The fee for members is $110 and $135 for non-members.

Register for the class by emailing artsleague@verizon.net or call 410-778-5789 or stop in at the gallery on Wednesday through Friday (noon-4:00) or Saturday (10:00-4:00).
