Art and New Media
Are you communicating your ideas through new media? Exploring traditional media in new ways? RiverArts invites you to submit your work for an exciting multimedia show scheduled for August.
Consider the cross pollination of media around us every day online, studying, working, traveling, in public spaces.
Printing, the original disruptive technology, is changing history again with 3D printing.
Comic artists, illustrators and street artists make a point. They cut through visual static to catch your attention with wit and bold images. Theyʼre certainly not confined to a gallery.
Projected art, projection mapping, and animation change objects, walls, buildings into fantastic environments. Popular at levels from grand openings and movies to make up videos, new projection software makes this art accessible.
Kinetic sculpture reaches past and through music and time to capture our attention. In a crowded or quiet natural environment movement and hearing are different pathways to engage our awareness.
Artists or groups of artists who would like to submit work for the Art and New Media show are asked to submit up to two works which may be displayed in the RiverArts Gallery. All artwork must be for sale. Because of the unusual formats being sought for the show, RiverArts is asking artists to communicate interest early so that requirements for displays can be arranged.
We look forward to presenting this exhibition August 7th though August 29th, 2015 in the main RiverArts gallery in Chestertown. The opening reception will be Friday August 7th, from 5-8 pm.

“Each art has its own medium and that medium is especially fitted for one kind of communication. Each medium says something that cannot be uttered as well or as completely in any other tongue.” –John Dewey
