February 2016 – Confluence – The Abstract Show

Confluence – The Abstract Show – February 2016

Illumine-Triptych
Illumine – Triptych by Barbara Parker

Exhibition Dates: February 5 – 27, 2016
Drop-off work: Sunday, January 31 from 1-3 pm
and Monday, February 1 from 10 am to 1 pm

Confluence is that place where two things come together, as when two rivers become one, or where things come together and happen at the same time. For the Abstract Show in February, writers from the Kent County Public Library Writers’ Group will deal with this abstract concept in prose while artists are encouraged to render the idea in 2 and 3 dimensional interpretation. This happy meeting of ideas and concepts will inevitably form a confluence all its own, blurring the edges between the arts.

Gallery space is restricted, so while you are encouraged to think beyond 2 dimensions for this show, please be mindful of the limited space available. For installations and large sculptures, please submit a photo and dimensions in advance so that we are able to determine whether or not we will have enough space to adequately show your work to its best advantage.

3If you wish, please prepare a short bio and explanation to accompany the work. All work must be original, and must be for sale. Co-curators Barbara Parker and Ronn Akins will attempt to include all pieces submitted, but will reserve the right to limit the number of pieces accepted.

Thank you for your interest in participating in a RiverArts Gallery Exhibition. Hanging fees for regular exhibitions are $10 per piece for members, $20 for non-members. Your membership must be up to date to qualify for the member rate. Please call the Gallery during regular hours (Tues.-Fri., 11 am-4 pm) to check membership status.  Artists must agree to the following when submitting work to be entered in a RiverArts Gallery Exhibition.
