Raven Bishop is an award winning National Board Certified Visual Arts educator, artist, technologist and community art consultant.
In the classroom, Raven is a dynamic and passionate instructor who coaches her students to engage in their communities through the visual arts. As a community arts consultant, she has designed community murals at Whole Foods Annapolis, at the Lighthouse Shelter in Annapolis and for Still Pond Studio. A left-brained/right brained thinker, Raven served as a curriculum and assessment assessment designer for Anne Arundel County Public Schools. She has served as the Artistic Director for Creating Communities’ Arts Mentorship Academy, an organization that provides exemplary arts programming for at-risk and at-need youth in the Annapolis area. She also served as the Middle Level Division Director and Vice President of Professional Development for the Maryland Art Education Association. She served as co-chair of the KidSPOT Advisory Committee and is the current Vice-President of the RiverArts Board of Directors.
A voracious advocate for Art Education, Raven is a frequent presenter at conferences and professional development workshops and has authored and co-authored several publications regarding the arts, creativity and technology in education. Her practical, realistic approach to presenting makes content accessible and empowers participants of all disciplines to incorporate creative problem-solving across contexts.
An artist in her own right, Raven works as a freelance graphic/web designer/consultant for small organizations. She has exhibited her paintings, sculptures and installations throughout Maryland and Pennsylvania and in the past four years has been exploring the role of virtual and augmented reality in museum education.
