This is an introductory course to the ancient art of encaustics. We will spend the first day painting on paper, subsequently adding collage, stamping and transferred images. Students will learn to use an iron, griddle, and heat gun. The final art piece will be on a 12×12 birch wood panel suitable for framing.

Lee Butera has had a long career as an artist and painter. She was on the Board of Directors and Membership Chair of the Arts League of Bonita Springs, FL. In 2011 she opened a gallery and studio there where she taught jewelry design and painting, including acrylic landscapes and wax encaustics. In 2011, she moved to Stevensville, MD with her husband Jim where she serves on the Board of Directors of KIFA.
