On Saturday February 7, Jeni Wightman, visiting artist for Washington College’s SandBox came to KidSPOT to do a workshop on mud paintings. Jeni’s approach combines art and science. In her artwork, she crafts water-tight sculptural frames and fills them with different water and mud samples, then allows the micro-organisms to grow, creating a colorful work of art.
Jeni talked about making observations in art and in science and how we perceive colors and art. Participants then had a chance to build a mini-ecosystem of their own that will grow bacteria that will change colors and create a work of art.
