cindy fultonCindy Fulton, one of the driving forces behind the annual Studio Tour, has gained recognition with her imaginative drawings and colorful oil paintings. PHOTOREALISM is a genre developed in the 1960s and 70s whereby photos were used to produce paintings. The use of projected images, gridded photographs, and even traced images started in the 15th century and continues into the present. Today with the computer as a tool artists of all kinds can have fun with their own photographs. Cindy will show you how you can “photo shop” your photographs with the use of paint. This class is appropriate for beginners, photographers who want to experiment with paint, and anyone else who would like to explore this technique. Drawing is not a prerequisite, but a good photograph is!

Participants should bring the photo(s) they intend to use to Cindy on Sunday, September 28 and Monday, September 29 from Noon-2 p.m. at RiverArts (introduction and evaluation of your photos). A high quality print of the photo is not necessary.

During this workshop you will learn a variety of stroke work, color and value theory, how to improve composition, and how to preserve your photo with paint.

Students will need:
a photograph printed on canvas (UPS, Walgreens and Finishing Touch offer this service)
acrylic or water-based oil paints, brushes.

Bring a bagged lunch, drinks will be provided.

CANCELLATION POLICY: RiverArts reserves the right to cancel any class due to under-subscription. Full refunds will be issued in the event of cancellation.

REFUND POLICY: Students can request a refund if withdrawn by the registration deadline, less a 10% administrative fee.
