A Sassi Jaunt Through Italian Art

It’s more than great art.  It’s tantalizing stories of power, wealth, jealousy, treachery, family feuds and scandalous affairs. Image 1 It’s the blold, brilliant and sometimes Machiavellian back stories of how the old masters of Italian art finessed their way through the gauntlet of power, politics and relligion on their way to fame.  Even for such famous artists as Giotto, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Raphael, it often took more than sheer talent to claim their place in the history of great Italian artists.

Your taste of Italy will include more than stunning images of its rich artistry.  You’ll savor sumptuous Italian wines from different regions along with colorful cuisine of breads, fruits and cheeses.  And no one is better suited to guide this entertaining romp through Italian art and culture than noted local potter Doug Sassi, who for more than 30 years taught Italian Renaissance Art History at the esteemed Severn School.  An avid connoisseur of all things Italian, Sassi began taking his students on art tours through Italy in 1986.  Once his students told thier parents about their grand adventures, many of the parents began requesting excursions of Italy for themselves, and Doug soon began offering tours for small groups of adults.  Through the years the requests have continued pouring in and Doug now guides frequent tours through the iconic cities and artistic treasures of this magnificent country.

Don’t miss this fun an tasteful excursion.
