This class is your opportunity to carve out two hours of creative play in a fun, social environment. Come on in, grab a complimentary glass of wine and learn how to use your sketchbook as your personal creative playground!

Each class will begin as an open studio with casual mingling. Share your work with other participants and/or visit a few “experimentation stations” set up with different techniques and materials to incorporate into your journal pages.

After open studio and mingling, settle down into your workspace to learn the week’s featured technique. Leave class with a creative challenge of the week to experiment with in your sketchbook.

This class:

  1. Requires no prior experience
  2. Is for “serious artists” as well as the “casually creative”
  3. Is your chance to try something new in a friendly, casual and fun environment!
  4. Is for participants 21 years of age and older

Materials List

Included in the cost of this workshop is a Visual Journaling Starter Kit which contains:

One (1) 9″ x 12″ Strathmore Spiral Visual Journal with 34 Sheets, Liquitex BASICS 6 Color Acrylic Paint Set, An assortment of 4 Golden Taklon Synthetic Hair paint brushes, One (1) white plastic color mixing palette, One (1) Pocket Color Wheel, One (1) Col-Erase 24 Erasable Colored Pencil Set, One (1) Scholar Colored Pencil Sharpener, One (1) Prismacolor 12 Piece Sketch Kit

Materials in the “experimentation stations” as well as for each week’s “featured technique” will be provided for use during class.

Participants are invited to also bring along any materials that they would wish to experiment with as part of their journaling experience. These may include but are not limited to: oil pastels, chalk pastels, photographs, washi tape, Mod Podge or other acrylic mediums, scrapbooking materials, newspaper, magazines, etc. Please be mindful that we are creating in a shared space. The use of odor-producing materials should be discussed with the instructor prior to use.
